Import demand has been an ongoing issue for the past year and it does not seem to be letting up anytime soon. Importers are looking into other options just to keep their shipments moving, so it has been assumed that May could hit a record high for US imports. Here are some insights:
Transpacific Lane:
– Spot rates are increasing and suggested to book on Premium rates.
– Capacity is extremely tight so the key to securing the best options is to commit to space at least 3 weeks earlier than the Cargo Ready Date.
Transatlantic Westbound Lane:
– The demand for vessel space and containers from Europe is so tight that bookings for early June loadings are already in place.
