The Federal Maritime Commission plans to review whether the World Shipping Council should be subject to U.S. shipping regulations – an inquiry that could potentially revoke the antitrust exemption allowing the WSC’s ocean carrier members to coordinate on certain matter, the JOC reports.

The World Shipping Council is a non-profit trade association that represents the international liner shipping industry.

In other FMC-related news… Chairman Louis Sola has decided to step down from his role, effective June 30^th. Sola began his first term with the FMC back in 2018, appointed by Trump, and included a term of five years but with two years of “carryover”, if he was not re-nominated.
