FMC Looking into WSC Agreement
The Federal Maritime Commission plans to review whether the World Shipping Council should be subject to U.S. shipping regulations – an inquiry that could potentially revoke the antitrust exemption allowing the WSC’s ocean carrier members to coordinate on certain matter, the JOC reports.
The World Shipping Council is a non-profit trade association that represents the international liner shipping industry.
In other FMC-related news… Chairman Louis Sola has decided to step down from his role, effective June 30th. Sola began his first term with the FMC back in 2018, appointed by Trump, and included a term of five years but with two years of “carryover”, if he was not re-nominated.
