Air Cargo Volume is at its Highest Peak in Years

The amount of air cargo has shot up nearly 10% in the month of June according to Freight Waves. Air shipments have been on a steady climb since the pandemic hit. The IATA reported that due to ocean shipping becoming so chaotic, air transport has become 6 times more expensive.

When demand is so high especially during this years peak season, companies will need to get product on the shelves as quick as possible to decrease the chance of missed holiday profits.

As of current, many crew members around the world are getting infected with COVID-19. Many flights are being projected to be cancelled in the coming weeks and rates may rise by $1.00/kg or more. With space already being tight, and if you are looking to get your inventory in before the holiday season, please reach out to explore your options. Our experts are predicting air freight could have more delays and cancelations down the road as the Delta Variant is spiking.

Evergreen Marine Has The Biggest Containership to Ever Hit Taiwan

The containership goes by the name Ever Ace and has the mission to increase Taiwanese carriers’ capacity. The containership is amongst some of the biggest in the world, even taking some of the awards in certain measurements.

According to Maritime Executive, the total container space was reported to be 23,992 TEU, along with being 1,312 feet in length, and having a beam of 200 feet. Evergreen ordered this ULCC ship in 2019 and received it on July 29th. This is just one of the 12 new ULCC ships that Evergreen is expecting to get from Samsung Heavy Industries.

A celebration was thrown once Ever Ace arrived on August 8th from Qingdao to Taipei on its maiden voyage. This is a sense of relief to Evergreen as current market conditions are demanding capacity. The vessel plans on heading to Yantian, China for its first official voyage.
